The Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI) is a widely used and effective cross-culturally valid assessment for building cultural competence. Unlike other tools that measure personal characteristics (i.e. open mindedness, flexibility), the IDI shows your personal (or group’s) developmental progression along a continuum of cross-cultural competence. Through the IDI, you gain in-depth insights on how you perceive cultural differences and receive a skill building plan to expand your own intercultural capacity.

Build Community and Shared Understanding

One of the keys to success for intercultural development is community accountability and a shared commitment towards common goals. Our 90-minute group orientation session focuses on building healthy group culture, introducing our CLNE QAs, sharing the IDI continuum, and connecting how the IDI fits into your community vision.

The IDI Assesment

Each individual receives confidential access to their IDI assessment, a 50-item, online-based, cross-culturally validated questionnaire that measures our current level of intercultural competence and provides an in-depth personalized plan to develop these skills.

IDI & Your Team

How do your team members intend to show up in cross-cultural relationships? How are they actually being experienced? IDI helps us gain self-awareness to match our intent to our impact. Utilizing the IDI group results, your team can develop capacity together and build action steps for systems change within your organization.

IDI & the Individual

After taking the IDI, each individual attends a 1:1 debrief session with a certified CLNE IDI Qualified Administrator (QA). This session provides an opportunity to reflect and learn more about your IDI report results and process how you can build skills and put them into practice using the Intercultural Development Plan.
